The Night Circus- The Snow Queen

( University project)

For my final third year project I made two costumes from the designs I created for the book The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. The book Is set in an ahistorical Victorian society around 1873-1904 and based around the mysterious and magical Le Circus Des Reves.

This costume was for The Snow Queen. She is a statue performer in the circus, and moves so slowly visitors believe she is animatronic.

For this costume I constructed a bustle, skirt with batik front, winter coat with embroidered snowflakes, detachable wings made from plasterzote, painted Venetian mask, icecle crown made from clear worbla, waistband.I also had to source white gloves, a stool to elevate the performer and a blakc rose prop.
